Apricot, known in Japanese as anzu, is represented mainly by synthetic fragrance materials. It has a juicy, fruity sweetness and a slightly animalic scent.
What Does It Smell Like in Perfume?
In perfume, apricot is a note that layers sweet, ripe fruitiness with a soft roundness reminiscent of peach. The scent of the actual fruit comprises multiple components. In perfumery, lactone molecules such as γ-undecalactone are used to build full-bodied apricot and peach nuances. Adding natural osmanthus absolute brings shades of dried apricot, white flowers, and soft leather, lending a dry depth to the bright fruitiness.
