What people want now is a scent of their own that has not been commercialized: a “bespoke,” or custom-made, fragrance created from a secret formula belonging to them alone.
From Parfum Kikō (The Scent Trail)
I wanted such a fragrance myself. That was why I visited the perfumer Anastasia Brozler, who would make one to order. My journey through scent began in Anastasia’s mirrored drawing room.
Book Review
The author visited the London-based perfumer Anastasia Brozler to have a bespoke fragrance made just for her, and received her custom-made perfume. She then decided to visit the places where each of its ingredients was produced, to meet the growers and perfumers. This book tells the story of her journey in search of scent.
Interestingly, the book not only reveals what goes on behind the scenes with fragrance ingredients; it also includes the words of Frédéric Malle and Serge Lutens, whom the author went to speak with. It allows you to learn about ingredients through knowledge drawn from many fields, not just perfume. That is quite fascinating.
My perfume is an archive of my travels, dissolving time and setting memories alight. Its scent, which holds distant lands within it, is woven from many stories.
From Parfum Kikō (The Scent Trail)
My journey will live on forever in this perfume.
