Marjoram

Marjoram, also called sweet marjoram, belongs to the mint family. It is also well known as a culinary herb used in Mediterranean cooking. A close relative of oregano, sweet marjoram is said to smell milder because its spiciness is accompanied by greater sweetness.

What Does It Smell Like in Perfume?

Sweet marjoram essential oil is a natural fragrance material obtained by steam-distilling the flowering parts or flower spikes of Origanum majorana. In perfume, the aroma of dried herbs is layered with a faintly sweet floral scent and warm spices, creating a gentle, clean outline. Its fresh, floral, and spicy facets add natural fullness to the heart of modern fougère and citrus-aromatic fragrances. It is a different plant from Thymus mastichina, known as Spanish marjoram.
