Perfumery Career
At the age of 17, Aliénor Massenet undertook a one-month internship at Firmenich (in Japanese), which sparked an interest in working in the perfume industry. After training in raw materials and olfaction under Monique Schlinger at Cinquième Sens (in Japanese), Massenet first worked at Florasynth (now Symrise) (in Japanese). Starting in 1995, Massenet spent six years at IFF (in Japanese) in New York and 12 years in Paris, then joined Symrise (in Japanese) in 2016.
Massenet is also known for creating many of the fragrances for Memo Paris and Hermetica, and more recently attracted attention for a fragrance created through a collaboration between the Louvre Museum and Officine Buly.
Perfumers Massenet admires include Edmond Roudnitska (in Japanese), Sophia Grojsman (in Japanese) and Pierre Wargnye.
I find inspiration in art every day. As part of my own learning, I study art history and psychology. As a designer, I am influenced by Impressionist painters such as Monet. In Cubism, Picasso transformed traditional themes through geometric structures to make them contemporary; this, too, has had a great influence on me.
