Bangkok’s SKONX Perfumery is a multibrand shop introducing niche perfumes from Thailand and abroad. It presents itself as a fragrance bar. Just as cocktails emerge from a variety of ingredients, perfumes have different makers and forms of expression. The shop aims to convey those differences to each person through conversation.

Jovoy, MDCI, and SORA DORA appear alongside PRIN, Strangers Parfumerie, and SIAM1928 in its selection. It is both an introduction to Thai perfume and a place to broaden one’s view of independent houses overseas.

The Shop’s Origins and Expansion in Bangkok

The Difficulty of Ordering from Abroad Becomes a Business Idea

SKONX began with the difficulties faced by friends whose interest in perfume was deepening. According to Fame, planning started in mid-2022. One friend returned from studying perfume in France and introduced compelling fragrances, but they were difficult to obtain in Thailand. Deliveries from overseas could take months, and bottles sometimes arrived broken. The friends decided to create a shop bringing the world’s perfumes to people facing the same frustrations.

The first store was at Gaysorn Village. In January 2024, co-founder Sarut described the idea of presenting the world’s niche perfumes in the form of a bar. At the time, it carried more than 120 scents, introducing both overseas houses and Thai makers. A selection combining L’Orchestre Parfum, MDCI, JUL ET MAD Paris, SORA DORA, and HUNQ with SIAM1928, Tada Parfumeur, PRIN, and others was already taking shape.

These words described the membership program announced at the time. Samples were delivered to members’ homes under a different theme each month. Events with brand founders and perfumers, workshops, and new launches were also part of the plans. Rather than simply selling a bottle in the store, the shop sought to create continuing opportunities to learn about and try perfume.

From Shopping Centers to the Streets of Song Wat

Its points of contact subsequently expanded to centralwOrld and Song Wat. In September 2025, local reporting described service at three shops. Fame welcomed the chance to meet people in Song Wat who differed from those in shopping centers. Alongside visitors who came specifically for perfume, people walking along the street could also drop in.

As of October 2026, the official website lists Gaysorn, centralwOrld, and Song Wat. All three also appear in SIAM1928’s official stockist list. This is a history of expansion into different locations, not a wholesale move from Gaysorn to Song Wat.

Specific Fragrances, Not Just Brand Names

In October 2026, the official online shop lists Jovoy’s Remember Me, MDCI’s Invasion Barbare and Chypre Palatin, and Strangers Parfumerie’s Salted Green Mango and Kira Kira, among others. SORA DORA also has its own product listing, while Dusita, PRIN, Parfum Prissana, L’Orchestre Parfum, and JUL ET MAD are among the brands carried. This is not a shop composed solely of products bearing its own name.

For example, Jovoy is also known as a perfume specialist in Paris. What SKONX stocks is the fragrance collection bearing that name. The shop’s breadth lies in the opportunity to compare work from a French house such as MDCI with fragrances by Bangkok-based makers within a single selection.

The Skunk Behind the Name

The spelling SKONX derives from the skunk. The official introduction likens the animal’s distinctive smell to a gathering of individualistic fragrances. Rather than treating pleasantness as a single standard, the name draws attention to memorable differences. The bar metaphor, too, is more than an interior-design theme. It expresses the shop’s role in explaining the backgrounds of different scents and making suggestions while listening to someone’s preferences.

Training with Raw Materials, and Sampling Through Conversation

In Fame’s 2025 account, staff spend roughly a week smelling the raw materials and substances that make up perfume, learning the characteristics of fragrance families. Before memorizing descriptions of finished products, this training helps them understand the smells themselves.

Fame also emphasized that customers should not feel intimidated by knowledgeable staff. At the Song Wat shop, staff explain the stories behind fragrances, spray scent strips, and encourage visitors to try them on skin. Sharing knowledge and leaving room for customers to explore for themselves are part of the same approach to service.

Bangkok After Dark in Dusk till Dawn

Tada Parfumeur’s Dusk till Dawn illustrates the relationship between the shop and its makers. Its official product page takes the light and energy of sleepless Bangkok nights as its subject. It presents a Thai city through perfume from an angle different from culture, religion, or nature.

Amber and mandarin sit at the heart of that expression. Luminous citrus meets amber conveying the density of night, in an attempt to portray the city’s energy. The clear, square bottle has a black and yellow-green label evoking the city at night and bearing the words “Skonx Exclusive.” It shows that SKONX not only brings several brands together but also introduces shop-specific creations in collaboration with their makers.

This fragrance records a connection between SKONX and Tada Parfumeur. Beside it, other makers turn different places and subjects into perfumes. Moving across the shop’s shelves can therefore become a way to compare different perceptions of cities and cultures through fragrance.

According to the official information available in October 2026, Gaysorn is on the second floor, centralwOrld is on the second floor in the Eden Zone, and Song Wat is at numbers 1210–1211.
