As the publication date makes clear, the perfumes introduced in this book are not merely from a little while ago, but from a considerably more distant past. Yet it is also true that this period produced many wonderful fragrances regarded as classics. Today, as many as 2,000 or 3,000 perfumes are released each year, in a world where marketing imagery and words alone take the lead. These perfumes come from a time when marketing was not yet so pervasive, and social media did not exist. Even just looking at the photographs is a pleasure.
