A Life in Perfumery

He is the nephew of Francis Fabron (in Japanese). After working as chief perfumer at Roure (in Japanese) (later Givaudan), he moved to Florasynth (in Japanese) (later Symrise).

His creations include a succession of celebrated fragrances: Opium for Yves Saint Laurent (in Japanese), Oscar for Oscar de la Renta, Bel Ami for Hermès, and Fahrenheit and Dune for Dior (in Japanese). He appears to continue composing fragrances today. Because he rarely puts himself in the spotlight as a perfumer, little is known about his personality.

Many perfumers have learned perfume creation under him, including such distinguished names as Michel Almairac (in Japanese), Dominique Ropion (in Japanese), Bertrand Duchaufour (in Japanese), Émilie Coppermann (in Japanese), and Fanny Bal. The fact that many of Almairac’s pupils have also become famous perfumers may be something inherited from Jean-Louis Sieuzac.
